CIHS Launches New Website

Though the Captiva Island Historical Society is an organization that strives to preserve history, it has a dynamic, contemporary new website.

Tom Libonate, Chair of the CIHS Board of Directors, announced, “Thanks to a grant from the Charitable Foundation of the Islands, we engaged the services of GO, a digital marketing and communication agency in Hartford, CT, to rebuild our website over the summer months.”

The new website is interactive and compatible with mobile devices, relying on a simple, modern, web interface, with a historical tone.  It delivers useful, real-time information and offers stories about the characters and events that shaped the history of the island.

The website has the latest information on upcoming events and a link to over 10,000 digitally archived items, including photographs, postcards, family letters, newspaper articles and more.

It also includes videos of past events, profiles of island characters and historic sites, and trailers of our “Captiva Memories” documentary films.

Now updates and information on the CIHS, its activities and programs, and topics of historical interest are merely a click away!
